Nokia World 2011 Keynote

  • The event doesn't start for another 36 minutes but Nokia's been kind enough to let us in early. Cool blue lighting and easy listening lounge fills the room, stars and moons float above on a projected display.
  • Announcement to fill up the far side of the room so we can get going. Five minutes.
  • Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has joined us. No sign of Ballmer yet.
  • Music has taken a turn for the ephemeral whale-song as we tip past 9:00AM here in London. Executives are in their seats so it can't be long now. Stage is clear.
  • Lights are dimming, here we go! Introduction video as WiFi sputters.
  • Thumping bass, big globe, rousing music takes on a world beat, cranked to 11, big thump to the chest as we're treated to a variety of global images and swooshing icons. Stil nobody on stage.
  • Applause. "good morning everybody" Colin Giles, head of sales, takes the stage. "over 3000 participants from over 70 countries. Welcome!"
  • We're having a little technical difficulty here folks, we'll be working soon!
