We're in our seats and waiting for the big show to begin.
There may not be a dry eye in the house as Steve Ballmer and co. bid farewell to CES.
Or, there could be a number of dry eyes. It's all about how Ballmer handles it. Stay strong, Ballmer.
There are some very bright yellow lights shining on us. Could this be a sign of things to come?
There's some anonymous male pop on the sound system right now. It could be Maroon 5. Or it could be a band that has been influenced by Maroon 5. Either way, it's not very good.
This is odd, but they're playing Christian rock at the Microsoft event. Jason Castro from American Idol.

Jason Castro (not here... yet)
CEA is now referencing the Sony keynote. Kelly Clarkson is on.
Paul is suggesting that this is the CEA telling Microsoft that it can finally breathe now that it's gone.
Also, three American Idol performers in a row. We're sensing a trend.
More American Idol. Also, this room is going to burst into flames thanks to the lack of air conditioning and sheer number of Verizon LTE units on at one time.
And the lights are down!
Cue CES promo video with pounding techno music. This could be Ke$ha.
Gary Shapiro is out — the CEA president, and general all-around bad
ass.
"We know today that the PC and its progeny are a critical part of the home entertainment experience."
"We all learned about the convergence of TV, PC, and content here at CES."
"Bill Gates took to the stage at a CES workshop. He walked into the Hilton by himself with his head buried in a book. His speech was called 'The coming computer revolution' — he said this revolution would be social."
"He did such a great job that we invited him back, and then again, and again, and again... and for 14 years Microsoft has taken to this stage to tell the world about the next big innovation."
"In case you haven't heard, Microsoft is taking a break from the stage in 2013."
"Microsoft keynotes drove press to this show; they took a risk on us early and we both benefited."
"As much as we want to preserve the status quo, change is the only constant. So we agreed to a pause." Interesting wording. Sounds like the CEA expects Microsoft back here.
"Tonight from the CES keynote stage, I offer gratitude and goodwill to Microsoft."
"In one keynote, I compared the company to our founding fathers."
"I would be shocked if a Microsoft leader does not return to this stage in the next few years." Odd.
Steve Ballmer is out!
Gary: It's great to see you Steve.
Steve: It's great to be here.
Gary: We have a special thing here for you. It highlights the history of Microsoft and the CEA together. This is for you and Microsoft, to enter the next phase of our relationship. We'll see you back here.
Steve: Thanks Gary!
Very very unusual.
Whoa, a Microsoft at CES video remix.
Imagine Auto Tune the News... with Microsoft at CES.
Literally. Exactly that.
